2001 ..??

How hilarious! Here we are in 2022 and can't even get the Artemis off the ground for a simple flyby of the moon. And the ISS? Need I say more! I will actually. We just basically sold out after Apollo and settled on a stupid space truck that never worked right and killed people.

Valid points. But on a more positive note the theory that the monolith symbolizes a screen is relevant. Especially with the mini monoliths we carry around in out pockets

LOL! Excellent point.

Some very important unmanned missions have taken place since then, but manned space flight has gotten stuck in a rut.

Yeah you're right. But I guess my point was here they were back in 68-69 predicting so much perceived advancement by 2001 albeit probably much farfetched but my God we haven't even returned to the Moon let alone Mars which was Werner von Bron's dream with the Saturn V's advancing forward and we shelved it. I always shudder to think what sort of rocket the Saturn V would be today had we kept her going with the technologies since and today. Sigh ..😔

Yeah, the Space Shuttle was about as exciting as a flying UPS van. Real space adventure ended with Apollo.

LOL perfect analogy !!
