Question about switching the babies?

I'm confused, were the babies really switched?
... Or did the normal baby somehow just remember Zira saying 'Mama' when she was in labour?

The babies were switched. The baby speaking should have made it clear that Zira had switched the two. But the baby was also wearing the St. Francis medal that Armando had given him. In Zira's haste, she had evidently forgotten to take it with her.

"Wicked tiger. He looks proud."

I believe she left on the medal so Armando would know that it was Baby Milo.

I like to believe Zira feels the medal was given to the cild, not to her. The fact it made things clear to Armando is merely a side-effect.

Yes and he had it at the end of 'Escape', hence I wonder what happened to it?

It wasnt me, it was the other three. Hang them!

Armando called the baby "an intelligent creature, and so was its mother and father". He couldn't have been referring to Heloise.
