Used to be my favorite film, but I've never liked Maude...

Then again, I didn't much care for Harold either... He was young, though. And at the end, I feel he could get over his instability.

With that said, I've always found Maude to be one of the most selfish main characters of any film. Yes, she was cute. Yes, she was fun... But all of the things she did were incredibly selfish. She stole cars, she endangered lives, and she committed suicide after allowing a damaged boy to fall in love with her.

Don't get me wrong. I still deeply love this film, but I can't be the only one who didn't find Maude to be a likable character.

Hail to the king, baby.

I agree. She is totally selfish and a bit crazy.

However, Harold needed someone like that to wake him up to life.

I don't find Maude sympathetic. That is the problem. Usually I love eccentric old ladies in films. But Maude never won me over.
