This movie is one of the greatest films of all time. We need more discussion about Harold and Maude on this board.

I agree. This movie holds up very well over time. I just rewatched it this weekend fo the first time in 20 years.
I think the anti war, anti authority stuff may have worked better in 1971, but that is probably because everyone is so complacent these days.
I think the approach of the movie is fabulous and so much better than the dreck these days. The movie makes you think.
Silver linings playbook might have had some similarities in approach.

i try to revisit the movie as much as i can.
for one week a woman of 80 years being thru so much accidentally travels down the same path with an early 20 something youth who i feel was doomed to accidentially suceed in one of his suicide attempts one of those times.
next door, next block, next town over you never know when two souls have something to impart on each others lives positively.
i think the discussion about what kind of flower you'd like to be sums up the movie. harolds response was to be a daisy, and maudes sage advice about the generic perception that all flowers look the same from afar, but up close each one is an individual unto itself.
