I've noticed alot things in films in my time but, i didn't notice this...until i watched the movie a couple of times. You know the scene where shaft takes over the bar where the two mobsters are staking out shaft's place from across the street. You know the one with the gay bartender. Well as shaft is hanging up his coat the gay bartender grabs shaft's ass. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I noticed it the first time dude. I thought it was funny and by showing Shaft not to care I thought it was a really cool way to have a masculine hero who isn't a homophobe.

Especially in the early Seventies. However, in an ironic twist, Roundtree played the gay uncle who marries a white man on the sitcom "Roc".
