People always yell at me for my list, but I think I define Blaxploitation a little differently than others, so here goes (no throwing potato salad at me...)

1. Lady Sings the Blues
2. The Wiz
3. Blazing Saddles
4. Shaft (long may he live)
5. Training Day

The reason I include Blazing Saddles which is inherently a white film, is that one of the definitions of Blaxploitation is when a Black actor is playing an iconic figure normally associated with the white world. If Cleavon Little doesn't qualify via this definition, nobody does. And what a great performance he gave, God rest his soul.

I think Shaft is the best one! Though I havent seen that many.

Shaft is the best (and you can say only good one) of these listed. This was acted and directed by blacks, and white Ernest T. won an image award for creating shaft. All the others have racial sterotypes and mindless violence poor writing.

Shaft was like "Peter Gunn" "Mike Hammer" and the other private eyes, he just happened to be black and work in Harlem. Shaft was miles away from the other Pam Grier type junk where its just showing your tits, shooting and slaughering people, and other junk.

Shaft (1971)
Across 110th Street (1972)
The Spook Who Sat by the Door (1973)
The Education of Sonny Carson (1974)
Cooley High (1975)

More then just being entertaining, or the "best", these are important films in cinema history.
