Robert Mulligan!
I just realized that three of my favorite films are directed by the same director, Robert Mulligan! All three also have very compelling female leads. There’s Scott in To Kill a Mockingbird. There’s Sandy Dennis’ great teacher in Up the Down Staircase. And there’s Jennifer O’Neill in Summer of ‘42. Wow. I miss the older style of filmmaking. I wish films today didn’t depend so much on agenda, CGI, and mindless action.
