What was the point of having Charlie's other 3 grandparents in the story?

Of the 4 grandparents, Grandpa Joe was the only one in the spotlight, and he's the only one that Charlie invited to the factory with him.

It seemed to me like there was no reason to include his other grandparents. After all, they didn't really contribute to the story much. They had minor roles.

It created the image of everyone but Charlie and his mother were indolent and not adding anything to the family. Having only Grandpa Joe it wouldn't have been as significant.

He was the only one in the spotlight because he worked for Wonka, but that's no excuse to not have the 3 other grandparents.

That was the Tim Burton version...
