The Cannon

The cannon ruined this film for me. It looked like a toy for one thing. In another shot it rolled off a cliff and fired on it's way down! How? It had exploding cannonballs in an era when there were none. It also had no recoil. It always seemed to be loaded and ready to fire. Kinski even fired it once with no match in his hand....plus the battle scene at the cannibal village was complete nonsense. One minute they are approaching the hostile village from the river..a second later they already have the cannon in the village and firing it, having dragged it up the muddy bank under enemy fire? How do you get a heavy cannon off of a raft? Up a steep muddy bank? Why was this effort not shown?
