i have a question and i would greatly appreciate answers

hello to anyone who cares about this thread. I am 14 years old, i have seen a lot of movies which would be considered "innapropriate" by other parents. I especially love satires e.g. Cheech and Chong, south park, the simpsons etc. I have also seen my fair share of violence. Kill Bill, Brother, The Passion Of Christ, SAW, Freddy Krueger and the other twisted movies that people think up. Now, my parents have said that they will allow me to watch the movie. I was just wondering if i should let myself watch this. PLEASE REPLY.

p.s. I have seen the sequal "Nine Lives Of Fritz The Cat", although i thought was a very poor effort and increadibly boring. Animation was good though. Though they could have done without the 20 minute "interlude" with all the lights and what not. Thank You to all who take this thread seriously.

Movielova 1 , Nine lives was made in the 70's when young people smoked a lot of pot (p.s. we still do, but more so then), the movie was made for stoners, and was greatly appreciated for the light sequence.

The original fritz the cat has a bit more substance, to it so it makes it a better movie, but dont diss "nine lives".

i didnt mean to offend you. I enjoyed the light sequence (mind you i wasnt on pot) its just that it got a bit tedious after 15 minutes. Im basing my judgement on this movie on what other people have said.

So fewer people are doing "pot" now than in the 70s? I don't think that's true. In fact it's so endemic that it's not cool so nobody makes a big deal about it.

I just saw this movie for the first time last night, at age 46; so my perspective is a lttle different. If you didn't live in the 60s and 70s, a lot of the satire may be lost on you. My question is - have your parents watched it in the last twenty years? I might suggest they do so first. That way, they may recognize and remember the cultural elements being satirized and might be able to answer any questions you have later.

The first part of the movie, when the would-be idealist/hippy/beatnik Fritz is overdosing on sex and pot, made my jaw drop. But farther into the movie, when he wanders blindly into succeedingly degenerative aspects of 60s pop culture, really got me thinking. In it's way, it's a scathing commentary on the times.

Hope that helps, and doesn't put you off. When all is said and done, it's a fun flick.

to answer your question, my dad saw it when it first came out in some sort of underground cinema. He said it was a really good flic.

Wizards is probably my favorite Bakshi movie, with Fritz being second.

Hi movielova1, I don't know wheather or not you've seen the film allready, but I don't think there could be much harm in seeing this film. I think it helps in creating a big as possible worldperspective, as long as you don't take the things seen in the film too seriously. Perhaps you could see it with your father so he can provide some reference to some scenes. Please let us know what you thought of it. Enjoy.

Well, Movieloval, I think watching Fritz with your Dad is a great idea. He might even just enjoy seeing it again. I'm sure he saw it when he was young. Either your Dad or your Granddad. I have a 13 y/o granddaughter and I saw Fritz when I was in my early 20's. Glad you enjoyed it though.
