Where were YOU in '62?

I love the movie's tagline, I wish I could get it on a t-shirt. I wasn't anywhere around in '62 though, my dad turned 11 that year and was living in Newport News, VA, while my mom was four and living in Bainbridge, GA. I was still 24 years off myself.

But what about you? Surely there are some folks frequenting this board who were around in 1962, and as a huge lover of this film and mid-20th century Americana, I'd love to read YOUR story. Where were you, what were you doing, what was life like for you? Look forward to hopefully reading some great responses.

Sadly wasn't born yet. My dad turned 10 that year. Great tagline I agree

I was an embryo at the time.

I was just turning one year old.

Two years old. But my mother, who grew up in the Southwest, said this movie was dead on as to how it was back then. I saw this movie the first time in the theater. Loved it then, love it now.

You're just jealous because the voices only speak to me

Depending on when in 1962 you are referring: Beginning 1962 I was in 2nd grade and the fall/winter of 1962 I was in 3rd grade. I remember having a crush on a boy in 3rd grade and remember his name.

catlover11,

The movie takes place during the last day of summer, before the start of the '62/'63 school year.

Tell me, you love your country?
Well, I've just died for it.

I was negative 30 haha. But I wish I could go back in time to just experience one night of '62, cruising in a classic American car, and get burgers and malts at a place like Mel's. Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I wouldn't have had it so easy back then. (I'm a guy). One thing I can say is better about the present day is that equal rights are in play, not so much in 1962.

I was born 1989 and my dad was 7 years old in 1962 while my mom was 3 years old. These types of movies really makes me feel like as if I've experienced their time. Such a classic.

I was 18 years old, and graduating from high school.

I was still a twinkle in my parents eyes.
Born in '63.
One month and 4 days after Helen Hunt.
Six years, to the day, before Neil Armstrong walked on the moon.
