Drunk guy gunned down in bathroom

I'm pretty sure the answer is obvious, but what's up with the guy going into the men's room and shooting the drunk guy? Was this a mob hit, or just some guy getting annoyed because dude is drunk? Not sure if I'm missing some important plot here. Loved the movie!

I think there was a bit if dialogue explaining this a few minutes after the scene. Something along the lines of the gunman trying to prove that he's a big tough guy by shooting somebody who was talking *beep* about another big tough guy. Keitel basically trashes this motion and says that the gunman just comes across as a dumb punk.

CHARLIE
Christ, you should have seen it.
Unbelievable. The kid would turn
around and fire and he would just
keep coming at him like Rasputin.
That kid was scared. Not half as
much as we were though.

TERESA
It doesn't make any sense. He
wouldn't shoot him just because he
insulted a racket guy...not unless
it was personal.

CHARLIE
You missed the point. The kid's a
climber...not very bright...but if
you get down to his level to look
at it his way; he kills a guy who
insulted a big man - he gets a
reputation. He thinks he's in good
standing.

TERESA
It's still sick.

CHARLIE
Not sick...just stupid.

Its also explained when Charlie goes into his uncles restaurant and overhears him talking about it. He's talking in Italian so you have to read the subtitles.

The was David Carradine...shot by his brother Robert...FWIW

~I see a little silhouette of a man, Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango.

reply

The drunk guy was obviously a zombie that needed to be eliminated.

reply
