Does anyone think McQueen got no nomination because..

He stole Robert Evan's wife the year before and Evan's being a big producer put the word out that "McQueen will never win!" Makes sense to me because this performance clearly shouldve gotten a nomination.

I've only seen two of the best actor nominated films that year. But five ridiculously huge name actors though. So big, only the last names are needed to identify them. Lemmon, Brando, Nicholson, Pacino, Redford. Someday I'll eventually see all five and can weigh in. However, for McQueen's part, I felt the performance was uneven. When he's starving, he sounds like he's starving. Good job. Except for one part where he sounds completely normal. Then at the end, when he's older, he sounds like he's trying to do a Clint Eastwood impression, which also took me a bit out of the moment. It's been a while since I've seen The Last Detail, but if I remember, Nicholson was at his psychotic best, although I don't remember him needing to show much range for that part.

I've seen all these movies except Save the Tiger, for which Lemmon won the Oscar. Does anyone even remember this movie? It's rated only 6.9 here. The others: Brando--"Get me the butter". Anyone remember anything else about his performance in this movie? Nicholson was very good in The Last Detail, as was Pacino in Serpico. Redford? Were they kidding? Newman was top-billed in The Sting and Redford was charming but nothing special there. McQueen should have at least been nominated but of all of them I think Pacino should have won.
