White Lightning is AWESOME and IMHO Burt's best work.
At the very least this should be high 7s!
I first saw this movie in 1974 when I was 10 and it was actually second billing to The Towering Inferno.
All I wanted to see was The Towering Inferno and had never heard of White Lighting.
When I left the theater all I could think about was White Lightning and not The Towering Inferno.
Over 40 years later I still love this Cool movie
I love it too. It's an action classic and definitely one of Burt's best films. Director Joseph Sargent was a major talent, and his next film - THE TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE (1974) with Walter Matthau - is another action masterpiece.

This is Reynold's best drama hands down. Great supporting actors. Great script.
yeah I don't understand it, fantastic film, I was watching Archer and he (supposedly a huge Burt Reynolds fan in the funniest way) was saying how Gator was the better of the two which made me double check the titles because this one is clearly the better film, probably Burt's best work, it's much more than a guy hauling ass, it has pretty damn powerful scenes and Burt owns the character
