Henry James stories?

Just had another chance to see this enchanting film at London's National Film Theatre.

The programme notes said that the goings-on in the old house were based on a couple of Henry James stories - anyone know which? Someone on another thread mentioned "The romance of certain old clothes", for instance.

There's some reference to "the Romance of Certain Old Clothes" in Camille's trying on of her sister's dresses, etc., but the real story of James' that the goings-on in the house are based on is James' novel The Other House, which isn't well known, but pretty good and shorter than a lot of his other books.

does it have shorter sentences too?
