Are you sure that's what Sheriff Pepper said? I thought he said "Elephants? We're Democrats, Maybelle"

Either way, that's the kind of Dukes-of-Hazzard humor that I wish they would've left out of all the Bond movies. Thankfully there hasn't been any of that in a long time.

I love this movie but this character is the biggest flaw of the film. This is my second favorite Roger Moore Bond film. Spy who Loved me is my favorite because it has Jaws vs a shark and a car that goes under water.

I always heard it as.... "Elephants! They're Democrats, Maybelle!"

Showing J.W. Pepper's ignorance of which animal belongs to which party.
JW apparently is a Republican, and he doesn't know the difference.
All for intentional comical effect.

No. he definitely says "we're democrats" not "they're democrats." it would be too unlikely for him not to know which animal represents his party.

I just watched the scene on my DVD, and played it like 15 times.
J.W. says "Elephants! They're Democrats, Maybelle."

Listen to it a few times, and another few times. He is definitely saying "They're" not "we're" (honestly!!!)

Sheriff JW Pepper is from Louisiana and Louisianians call democrats elephants so the seen makes perfect sense. You have to applaud the screenwriter for being so meticulous with the regionalisms.

then i suggest you watch it again with SUBTITLES because he does say WE ARE DEMOCRATS. Its not strange at all as the democrats were the conservatives in the 70s

Another thing he says that doesn't make sense is
"If you got your little pointy heads out of them pyjamas, you wouldn't be late for work!"
But in actuality, not taking the time to change out of your pyjamas would in fact make you earlier for work.

jrd516 is a anal rapist! Beware women!! He is on medications and just between doctors at the moment. He has unfortunetely already reproduced a lot of rapist Children but he is about to get help. He just needs to want the help. His mom is helping him at the moment with all sorts of things. Believe it or not but he is so sick that he actually Thinks that one is mentally ill if you are against rape! I know! But that's how sick he is! He Thinks rape is funny! He has no empathy for rapist victims but Think you are mentally ill if you have empathy for rapist victims!

Yes. That's very true. In fact, the recently late King of Thailand ruled for 70 years! So there have many generations of Thai elephants who have never known another King!
