Title song aside, TMWTGG is an improvement over the first Moore outing, IMO. Scaramanga is a more akin to the classic Bond villains of yore (secret hideout, holding the world ransom, etc.) -- he also has a professional kinship with Bond that I thought was nicely played out. The film has its flaws, sure, but the ending duel is as memorable as any from the Connery era.
I can't agree that it's better than Live And Let Die. It does have some terrific scenes but those are pulled down by some dreadful ones. All in all, I think Live And Let Die is a more even film.
I think neither comes close to the brilliant Spy Who Loved Me though, where they finally got their seventies act on top form.
I don't agree. TMWGG gets me bored several times, and I cannot stand the presence of J.W. Pepper in this. He didn't really bother me in LALD.
share1st off TMWTGG is generally considered among Roger's weaker Bond efforts. (next to View to a Kill)
I felt there was more drama & thrills in Live & Let Die & it was right in step with the then popular 'blaxploitation' genre of the 70s. Perfect. (though TMWTGG played up on the martial arts craze of the day)
TMWTGG was a step down for me. Still fun, the main problem- they tried to make Roger more like Sean. Slapping the women, too serious.
I feel Roger hit the ground running with LALD. They shouldn't have touched him for the follow-up.
I enjoy it more than Live and Let Die. I rank it third in Moore's Bond career behind TSWLM and FYEO. And just ahead of LALD & Otopussy.

I like both but I would give the edge to Live and Let Die for my preference. A View to a Kill is easily, in my opinion, Moore's worst outing as 007.

I like both films, they are my two favourite roger Moore bond films. They are different, but both good.

That one is undoubtedly the most lavish & polished of ALL his Bond films! Hell, even Moore himself says it's the one he considers his best.
To say I disagree would be an understatement.
