I am formerly known as HillieBoliday.....Member since May......2006.

I'm with you Enigmatic-Ocean! Next to Maud Adams....Britt reminded me of a teeny bopper! During the whole movie, all I could think was what in the world were the producers/directors thinking? They should've switched the roles.

"OOhhhooo....I'M GON' TELL MAMA!"

Maud for me, Britt eckland as lovely as she is, is abysmal in this movie.

You must be a girl, Ocean, cause there's "no way" a guy would choose the pale blond over the hot babe Maud.

You've got to remember this was made it 1974, while the Hollywood producers, directors, and actresses were in the middle of their neo-Nazi propaganda campaign to force the world to accept their blonde daughters as goddesses.

The campaign hit full tilt with the idea that equality could be achieved by making men all dark and women all blonde. Any one else was cannon fodder for Hollywood and those who wanted admittance to Hollywood.

So, in 1974, boys hadn't quite been brainwashed to idolize pale girls as they are today. In 1974, few people saw films more than twice a year, and even most TVs were rarely used, most of them being black and white.

So, while the "brainwashing" was being done, those of us who weren't successfully brainwashed first, even though we couldn't fight off these powers without becoming homeless and hated, we at least knew it was brainwashing.

Today, or since about 1985, when the neo-Nazi campaign was at its peak, there's probably been no boy born in the first world who even has an idea which woman he would choose, as he's been ordered since age 0 which one to choose, or else die with every other ingrate who chose a brunette (which was part of the propaganda of the Hollywood neo-Nazi movement).

It is what it is. It was what it was. Denying it would make you a retard.

So, in 1974, when young men watched the film, Maud was the "hot babe", and Britt was the "likable" one, full of funny charm. Her funny charm made her cute and likable, but even in the bikini she was no match for Britt, at least not to us heterosexual guys. The homosexuals and bisexuals liked her, I remember.

And this is no disrespect to Britt. She was as cute as a blonde could be, with a nice body, but honestly, so pale! She just wasn't a natural turn on like a darker girl would be, at least not to a natural heterosexual guy.

Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

hey you!

You talk about (brainwash) meaning propaganda. But when I read your post you are nothing short of a racist against blonde people. Blondness is the rarest natural haircolor in the world (excl albinos)and you you want to sh*t on us?

You are the nazi, dude! Uncool!

reply

Britt as well!

They should have swapped roles. Britt playing Scaramanga's kept woman, and Maud as the sexy, yet kind of klutzy Bond Girl.

reply

I dont think it would have worked, from an acting point of view! Britt could do the comedy, but I have not seen anything in Maud Adams acting that convinces me that she could do Britts role, although MAud could do serious stuff pretty well.
