How I would re-write The Man With The Golden Gun

Keep the first act of the movie as is. Cut the sumo wresting and kung fu. Have Goodnight stay with Bond as his companion, replacing JW Pepper instead of being kidnapped. Bond dines and duels with Scaramanga while Goodnight secretly disables the solar facilities. Scaramanga's plan is to monopolize solar power and refuse it to the west instead of a giant laser.

I always felt like the premise of the movie was great. My revisions may work as a modern remake with the next James Bond actor.

personally, I like it the way it is.

Oh, that would be cool. I especially like the part about Goodnight secretly disabling the solar facilities. As it is, she is the worst Bond girl of any film (the role, not the actress).

If Bruce Lee had not passed away I'd have had him as Lt. Hip. Did away with the whole Solex Agitator thing. And simply had a cat and mouse chase around the world with Scaramanga (Christopher Lee). With the movie going from Europe, to Australia or New Zealand, to Thailand, and ending in Hong Kong.

(Perhaps giving him a real mission, of chasing down spies involved with a smuggling military blueprints or something? )

- Axed JW Pepper.
- Axed the flying car.
- Have the roll jump without tin whistle.
- Have Bond be less of a jerk. And more suave.
- Have Bond try to rescue Andrea, only to lose her near the end. Just for more drama, and up the stakes for the final confrontation.

- Have the final confrontation more like Grant in From Russia With Love, where Bond lives by his wits, and Scaramanga's greed or ego does him in.

Verily I say unto thee..Hip added nothing to TMWTGG, the film really needed a Hip replacement.
