Paul Koslo, the real star of the movie.

Yeah, I know Charles Bronson is the #1 action star of all time, and Al Lettieri just exudes menace without having to open his mouth, but Paul Koslo's performance in Mr Majestyk was absolutely spot on.

'Bobby Kopas', is an annoying little wannabe, an unintentionally irritating personality, a character you almost feel sorry for, superbly played by Mr Koslo.

I was kind of disappointed when he didn't get gunned down in the movie to be honest. I have to give him credit though. He can play a convincing bad guy.

Koslo was in Vanishing Point a couple years prior playing as a corrupt racist cop.

If this movie had been made in 1950, Bobby Copas would have been played by Dan Duryea or Elisha J. Cook.

Absurdity: A Statement or belief inconsistent with my opinion.

Koslo plays an annoying little $hit so good he steals almost every one of his scenes.

1974 was a big year for Paul Koslo.

This movie, and also the violent-funny Cop Cult Classic, "Freebie and the Bean", in which buddy cops Alan Arkin and James Caan threaten Koslo(still an annoying little s---) thusly:

Arkin(to Caan): Go get me the pliers.
Caan(looking at Koslo in fear): The pliers! The PLIERS!!? (To Koslo) He's gonna get the PLIERS!

He never does get the pliers. As I recall, Koslo talks.

Coincidentally enough, I watched these two back to back (had them recorded on the DVR) without even noticing it was the same actor. But yeah, he was great in both.

Two other movies which are favorites of mine where Paul Koslo played very memorable characters were;

Cleopatra Jones (1973), Where he played a hoodlum called Baby Tony, with an unintentionally hilarious English accent, his ultimate demise in a car crusher, and his accompanying tirade is so memorable.

The Stone Killer (1973) Koslo plays a bisexual, Jazz Trombonist, hitman called Langley, in another great Bronson actioner.

seen both of em...Cleopatra Jones was one of those 70s classic Superfly/Shaft right-on black people are cool movies...

Stone Killer the one where there is a revenge mass-hit on a mob convention planned over a grudge going back 30 or 40 years, and Bronson races to stop it...good car vs motorcycle chase ??

but sadly saw em too long ago to recall Bobby..

yes..
I still say his line about "...with some top-hand pickers"..

he was,he was ideal for this weasel-ly take on the Texas cowboy wannebe but all the main characters were cast virtually perfectly, tbh.

I tend to agree that you wanted him to get killed since this annoying little SOB was the one who put Majestyk on the collision course with the more serious bad-asses...he tries to strong-arm Majestyk, pulls a shot-gun on him when he realises he is way out of his league, and to top it off, starts Majestyks real problems by then

--running and finking to the cops, when he himself is involved in an extortion racket
-running to be a puppydog to the more serious hoods

I've theorized that the guy who played "Ray the Cowboy ' in the original "Dallas" tv show, for example, might have been an interesting alternative allowing the character to be played a little tougher and less one dimensional.

of course, some such people are actually pretty one-dimensional people irl .

Koslo was everywhere in the 1970s. Another great actor in those sort of weasel parts is David Patrick Kelly.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!
