Long, boring, slow, pretentious, with terrible stiff performances by Nicholson and Shneider. The way they deliver their lines is laughably bad, like a rehearsal.
This is a bad boring movie whether you like arthouse films or not. See Fellini or Pasolini instead, Antonioni is highly overrated.
A very boring movie indeed. It's just bogus overall. Seen worse movies, but this one is over-rated for sure. Who ever calls it a masterpiece has no clue what a good movie is supposed to look like, because it's sure not this one. Worth a 5 or a 6 at most.

When a film like this is made the people behind it are fully aware that many will react to it in the way the OP has.
Why not just say you don't connect with Antonioni's work instead of using the lazy old 'overrated' line. I've not been especially blown away by the Bergman stuff I've seen, but I'm not gonna pretend that I'm above it like the OP has here.

I agree completely. It was also semi incomprehensible and the ending is extremely vague.
I liked "Blow Up", but not this film.

L'AVVENTURA is one of the best ever, all done visually, dialogue & action aren't as important.. that & the two following, L'eclisse and La Notte, remain his best for me, all in BW
