The Stabbing (Spoiler, Obviously!)

Did she really need to stab her friend in the abdomen? She cut her own hand to show that she bleeds; couldn't she have just grabbed her friend's hand and done the same? Stabbing her is obviously a huge gamble, even if she had reason to suspect that the woman was now some kind of robot, which she didn't! All she knew was that she had seriously changed. Most people would not immediately assume that means they're a robot! What if her friend was just on some kind of LSD trip? She would have felt pretty stupid...in prison, no less!

Obviously a huge gamble as you say, but I think that was part of what makes that scene so intense— you half wonder in the back of your mind if maybe she's going to stab her and that she's going to end up killing her. Of course she doesn't, and Bobbi is actually not Bobbi. Love that scene; probably the greatest moment in the film, aside from the ending.

That's a really good point. And besides, it's not like Bobbi would have said "Ok, you got me, I'm a robot." On a trippier note, was Bobbi even aware that she was not the Bobbi that existed before? They never really explain what the robots are & how much of their human counterparts they've retained, if anything besides the basics. I always appreciate movies that hold back enough to make you think about what you've just seen, & this one will always be a classic.

I agree! I have no use for movies that do all the audience's thinking for them. This one is indeed a classic.

It’s a rash move but Ross played it very well so you buy into her hysteria and that she on some level knew that Bobby wasn’t human anymore. I went with it.
