.... If the Criterion Collection bought the rights to Supervixens and all the other Russ Meyer films that weren't distributed by 20th Century Fox (everything except The Seven Minutes and Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (The latter already has a great DVD)) and released 'em a boxed set with remastered image & sound and with the original aspect ratio?? Damn, I'd buy that on the day of its release!!
shareIf Criterion released it, you'd be paying several hundred dollars! A better use for your cash would be to invest in a multi-region DVD player that can accommodate both PAL and NTSC formats and get the Russ Meyer Box set that was released in England a year or so ago. You get virtually every film he ever made (other than the two from 20th Century Fox), plenty of special features and some appropriately lecherous commentaries from Meyer on select films. He does commentary tracks on Supervixens, Vixen, Beneath the Valley and a few more. Faster Pussycat has a Meyer commentary and a commentary from Tura and Haji to boot. You can get it on amazon.co.uk for about a hundred bucks.
