Tentrex Industries / CIA phone numbers in phonebook.

LOL

Little point in having a dummy / front corporation that can be exposed in a reverse directory.

" (212) 555-6543 - Central Intelligence Agency dba Tentrex Industries "

reply

Today, sure. Back then reverse directories were hardly - if at all - readily available. And certainly not on-line as they are today.

reply

You're right, of course - it's a goofy plot hole.

It has nothing to do with the plot of this movie. It was just one thing to make her believe that Condor is who he is. Leave that out and the plot remains the same.

reply

there was no reverse directory.

She looked up Tentrex, saw the phone number. Then she looked up CIA and saw that the number was the same.

They were available. We had them at newspapers. They were 5 inch thick HUGE books the size of an atlas for each jurisdiction you were interested in. Rows and rows of tiny print.

You paid for an annual subscription to the company that provided them and then they came once a year and picked up your old books and gave you the new one.

Ah the joys before internet. Yeah, believe or not folks, info was available before the internet. LOL

If you were a private citizen and did not work for the police (who also had them) or a newspaper, the local library usually had them.
