Jenny Agutter makes the society an ok place

Imagine that on tap 24/7 until you're 30

I'd still be dead.

So? Measure a life in quality, not in quantity.

reply

Yes the quality of those years with her would have been high. I assume.

What's interesting is that if the people are ignorant of what really happens during the Renew Process then what's the actual problem? Also, we aren't aware how bad the outside world has been harmed by the events that led up to this society's creation in the first place. Just seeing the old man dispels the myth of renew but if all the young people start reproducing, consuming, and need space to live is the real world enough to support them?

I'd get it if this world was created by a higher class of stingy humans who wanted to keep the majority of the populace controlled but that isn't the case here.

reply

Still sounds like a "liberty or death" scenario.

reply

It does if the outside world that the "expired" 30 year olds encounter is fully recovered and habitable enough for them to re-inhabit but this time be more mindful and resourceful of mother earth OR if there was an elite class of humans who were hoarding the benefits of mother earth while relegating the masses to the fake Utopia. I'm just saying that the movie doesn't confirm this and that the premise of the underground "utopia" was to create a short term society that could subside with the limited resources available to them.

Or simply living free even if it means dying.

There is something to be said about the candle that lasts half as long but burns twice as brightly.

reply

Indeed. Why waste youth on preparation for old age?

reply

Bumping her seems natural

reply

Jenny Agutter enhaces every film she's in.
