Legality help!

Hello Everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone knows what legal things I need to go through to make the soundtrack and movie purchaseable from the fan website. I have both for myself aready (no, I won't send them to anyone. I respect the creators WAY too much for that), and would love to be able to offer them for download (mp3s I figured about $1 including tax for each song, or the entire album for $10, and about $10 for the movie which would be just the movie without extra features ripped from my high quailty edition into AVI format.)

I figure this is a great way to get it out, because currently Itunes requires you to purchase the entire album, and I'm not sure if it's available for itunes outside of the US version. Also, that I'm aware of there's no digital version of the movie currently available for download.

If anyone knows who I would need to contact to make it so that this was possible (so I can find out how much I would owe the main "publishers" (I think in writers terms. I'm not sure of the movie industry's equal's term), and how I would get the money to them) I would really appricate it if you would let me know.

Thanks!

If you can find a way, I'd buy it from you!

I'd suggest consulting a lawyer who specializes in entertainment law to begin. (I don't know where you live, but they are a dime a dozen in places like Nashville, NY, and California)He/she would have the staff and know-how to obtain the contact information for all entities which hold the rights or have a vested interest in the film and soundtrack. He/she would also know how to write a contract which would legally allow you to offer the downloads, and what you could charge--a percentage would most likely have to go to the aforementioned entities, which might affect your pricing.
