What city did the Bradfords live in?

I can't remember what city but it seemed like it was in Northern California? Was it San Francisco where they lived?

Wasn't he an editor? I really need to watch this again, lol. I wonder if the entire series is ever shown on TV anymore or if it's ever going to be on DVD?

Check out AOL video. They have some, not all, episodes of Eight Is Enough.

Here's a link to the pilot. Notice Mark Hamill is playing David.

"LOL" is right, considering there has never been a Sacramento Register.
There have been 2 "daily" papers in Sacramento:
- The Sacramento Bee
- The Sacramento Union

The Union folded back in 1995 or 1996, but has since recently became a free weekly and an online websource of news.
As for The Sacramento Bee, well, I've been working there since 1994!

I've never heard of the "Register". Everybody gets the Bee.

Sorry I lived in Redding all my life, and the Sacramento Bee is a newspaper and has been for some time. The Bradfords lived in Sacramento

Then you must live in the parrallel universe of Eight is Enough where San Francisco is constantly referred to as "up there" by the Bradfords. All of us who live in the real Sacramento (where the Bee is printed daily) know that Frisco is southwest of us, not north.

The writers did a great job with the show, but their research sucks.

It was Sacramento (the capital of Calfornia). It is also home of the NBA's Kings, though they were in Kansas City then, did not move to Sacramento until 1985, 4 years after the series ended. And in one episode one of the daughters is having a discussion with Tom in their kitchen, she is going to San Francisco for a few days and wants some new clothes, saying, "People dress up in San Francisco". Tom then asks, "Well what do they do in Sacramento?" She says, "They cover their nude bodies". And he replies, "Thank God for that" (what a conservative prude!). See my question on here for futher proof of that, but yes, its Sacramento.

The Sacramento Bee is the newspaper and the house is in the area east of the capitol building. The houses in that downtown area are fantastic in size and design.

Sacramento looked like a great place to live on the show. It wasn't a huge city like San Fransisco, Los Angeles or New York. But I had heard of it because it is the capital of the state of California. I just looked on mapquest. It appears that Sacramento is about 90 miles northeast of San Fransisco. It is the sixth largest city in California with a population of 470,956. I am not sure what the population was in the late '70s.

They lived in Sacramento California

Here's an article about how people from Sacramento felt a connection to the show, even though the house exterior was actually in Burbank:
