New York City has the largest population of Italian Americans in the United States of America, many of whom inhabit ethnic enclaves in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island. And the New York Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting is the oldest film commission in the United States. They are the agency responsible for coordinating municipal support for film and television production, including approving film shoots and liaising with government agencies and promoting the industry. They made filming movies on location in New York very popular in the '70s.
