Um the movie very much is not stupid, I think you're selling it short.

It's a great story about transitioning from oblivious youth culture to a manhood and it uses the urban setting of NYC rather well. I like to think that Tony and his crew were nearly close in hailing a cab from Travis Bickle, but because he purposely chose the more dangerous routes they never crossed paths

I only saw this film for the first time about 10 years ago. I guess I was expecting more although I don't know why. I wouldn't watch it again that is for sure.

Still one of John Travolta’s best movies imo.
