Saw it in theater last night

I saw SORCERER in its original release in June, 1977, and loved it then. Seeing it on the big screen last night did not lessen its impact, however, the two "film fans" I brought with me didn't care for it at all, and tried to explain to me why STAR WARS is the far superior film.

WARNING:

Don't take STAR WARS fanboys to serious cinema.

That's great.

Cool you were able to see it in the theater (again!).

Where at?

Wait a minute... who am I here?

It's at the Film Forum in NYC. Today's the last day.

Nice.

Now I'm REALLY wondering if you can hear that gunshot (or whatever) sound at the end of the film when seeing it in the theater.

The pop does seem to be more of a car backfire than gunshot. The sound is coordinated with the taxi taking off. Of course, it's really up to the viewer's imagination.

No, the taxi never takes off. It's definitely not a car backfire. It's either a gunshot mixed underneath the score or it's part of tbe soundtrack . Hard to tell. Just like Billy wanted it, I'm sure.

As for the "ambiguous" ending, I don't see the ambiguity. Nico is clearly there to take out Scanlon. His final look is one of business & determination. Of course, you can choose to think otherwise, you'd just be wrong.
