More Friedkin/Sorcerer news

this from the 5/12/2013 Los Angeles Times:

"I'm going to make a new digital version of my film Sorcerer which is coming out again this year in theaters and home video. Then Sorcerer will be world premiered at the Venice Film Festival on my birthday, Aug. 29."

so, I'm guessing the bluray will show up around then as well

That's great to hear. This film needs and deserves to be discovered (and re-discovered). And it should be restored and enhanced.

I'd also like seeing a new DVD Release (Bluray) that has a full and thorough commentary from Mr. Friedkin, who is always a captivating speaker with much to say.

There should be more Special Features included; documentories, interviews, deleted scenes; etc.

That's great to hear. I'll be placing my order. Hope Friedkin does an Audio Commentary, and hope there will be additonal Special Features.

Thanx for the update.

You're welcome! I'm sure WB will go all out on the extras, but just seeing it restored is gonna be awesome

"The only known actor, who was not a major star, was Roy Scheider…and people didn't really understand the significance of the title [the name of one of the trucks] -- they thought it was a film similar to The Exorcist. [But most importantly], the film came out just after Star Wars, a movie that became the template for the future of American film, which it basically still is... I have a great fondness for Sorcerer, more than any other film I've made.. Sorcerer is the one I hope to be remembered for and the one film that came closest to my vision."

Nice to hear it directly from him.

Can't wait for this release.
