BAM screening May 2nd

I caught a showing of Sorcerer tonight at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Friedkin was there and blessed the audience with a very lively Q&A session. He was extremely entertaining and his wit was sharp as ever. Friedkin also had a book signing, at which I asked when we could expect the blue ray edition of Sorcerer. He says he'll begin participating in the process in June 2013. I'm now experiencing a d'oh! moment, realizing I should've asked if he'll be doing a commentary track. I would guess that's inevitable. It's abundantly clear that he cherishes this film and wants to give it the life that Star Wars once crushed out of it.

I was there as well. The lively amusing discussion was par for the course for Mr. Friedkin, he is a supreme raconteur. There is no doubt that he will do a commentary for Sorcerer, he has done one for every one of his films and recently did an excellent commentary for the "Vertigo" Blu-Ray. He was also gracious to everyone who wanted a picture with him and didn't rush anyone during the book signing. Great Film, Great Guy, Great Night.
(Update 4/22/14. The Blu-Ray is amazing but sadly NO COMMENTARY TRACK. Still: A Must Buy)

Cool. I also asked Friedkin why there were no behind-the-scenes photos for Sorcerer in his memoir. He said that the (now resolved) lawsuit involving the film prevented even something as simple as that from happening.

He's one of the most charismatic directors out there. I could listen to him talk for hours.
