I've never got if Susy was protected someway by the peacock in killing Helena Markos. Has this animal any symbolic meaning that helped her in overwhelming the witch?

I had read somewhere, that it's a reference to Argento's first film he directed : The Bird with the Crystal Plumage. Suzy kills Helena with a crystal from the peacock's tail feather: A 'crystal plumage'. A bit of an 'in joke'.
