As a fan , what would you expect from the remake?

I want to start saying Suspiria is one of my favorite films,
this beautiful nightmarish dream.
I don't think a classic ( yes, I do consider Suspiria to be a classic in my book )
needs a remake, but I do feel this could be interesting.

So my question is, what would you like to see ( or expect ) in this remake
to make you interested:

1- Tilda Swinton as Madame Blanc or Mother Suspiria? BRILLIAN CHOICE!

2- What could they do with Argento's outrageous color palette?
I will like them to keep that assaulting red, and use other colors like green and yellow
to represent the different moods of the witches or the house itself.

3- I would expect ZERO CGI please, only practical and creative effects.

4- Vicious and bloody original murders!

5- I would love they explore the witches and coven background/history.

6- As is gonna be set in Berlin, implement the city's architecture and underground vibe into it seemesly into the horror of the story.

7- That the witches evil powers are more from their way to manipulate weak minds and
enhance fears of their victims.

8- the soundtrack, this is gonna be really tough! if is gonna be an original
and not use Goblin's , I would expect an electronic soundtrack, not classical orchestra.

this is all I could think at the moment, I will update as it goes alone,

do you have any ideas or expectation you like to share?

I'd expect it to have the Goblin Theme slightly modernized (without the typical 70s sounds or Synths) playing at the beginning and / or during the end credits.

I'd expect them to do what most fans want- and just forget the whole thing.

I would expect 'them' to make a piece of crap... like 'they' have done with virtually every other horror remake... except a very select few... I can only list 5 horror remakes, made after the year 2000, that were worth watching.

reply

Could you name those ramekes you like? Im curious

reply

There are more than 5 "horror remakes" that I like... but it all depends on the era... when I said 5 remakes... I meant in the year 2000 or after... any earlier and we'd be discussing "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers", "The Fly", "The Thing" (the John Carpenter remake, not the recent crappy one), etc, etc.

So for the last 16 years... I would say some good horror remakes are:

- The Ring
- The Hills Have Eyes
- The Crazies
- Halloween (just the 1st one... the 2nd Rob Zombie film was crap)
- The Last House On The Left
- Let Me In

...that's all I can think of off the top of my head, I may own some others I can't think of at this moment.

There are probably other good ones I haven't seen also... but I could probably list at least 50 horror remakes (again, 2000 and later) that were quite pitiful (if you ask me)

On a very somber side note... I can't believe they are actually going to remake one of the most 'perfect' horror films of all time... "The Exorcist"... I'm cringing at the thought.

I ''urge'' the filmmakers to forget the whole thing. Re-Release the original to theaters in the fall, and then, release the new Blu-Ray.

There is no way they do that... and certainly not in North America, it's just too 'unknown'.

But if they were to do that, I would highly recommend displaying it with the "original Italian track" with English subtitles... even though a lot of the dialogue (on screen) is spoken English (most of the actors anyways)... the original Italian language track is much more creepy... especially the sequence when Suzy enters Helena's bedroom at the climax (this scene was rendered completely 'cheesy' with all the added English dubbing).

Unfortunately, subtitles turn most people off of a film (especially these days, and especially in North America)...

Watching a "dubbed" foreign film should be considered a crime against that film.

Being an extremely loyal fan, I say "don't get your hopes up"... it is almost as ridiculous an idea to remake 'Suspiria' as to remake 'The Exorcist'... discover more 'foreign films' is my suggestion... if you haven't already... discover 'Mario Bava'.

Sorry to be off topic,

I hope there is a remake of the movie "Anguish".
(I don't know the name of the actress, but vaguely I remember she played as a shaman in the Poltergeist 1).

I wonder why I couldn't find this movie in IMDB.
When I type "anguish" in the search box of IMDB, the result is a different "Anguish" movie :(.

The film "Anguish" you are referring to is actually called "Angustia", released in 1987.

I expect the remake to not be good.
