A quick but most disturbing scene

After Superman rescues the cat from the tree, the little girl excitingly runs into her home to tell her mom, and not only doesn't the mom believe her, but if you listen closely, you can hear the slap she gave her daughter. There is no reason to include child abuse in a movie like this

I saw this on it's initial 78 cinema release, and originally it not only shown the girl getting slapped...but also her subsequent (semi-romantic) gang-rape (at the hands of the mother's 'BLACK' boyfriend and his homies) replete with a majestic John Williams score ('Can You Bleed My Rind?)
...which (inexplicably) was cut out of all of subsequent releases (thanks to liberal snowflake SJW sensibilities, and/or Trump/Putin?)

Now you just 'hear' an implied slap.

WOW! I was not aware of this. So it had to have an R rating then?

reply

Nah...Parental Guidance all the way (something that unfortunate child lacked?)

Things were much more simpler in the seventies.

I am so grateful for todays WOKE culture

Best part of the movie. Mother of the year. Don't let children get away with lying, especially young girls. We see the road where not slapping them has led us down. Thank you based mother in Superman (1978)

But the girl wasn't lying. This is why the "Believe all women" movement is so important

There was a reason: because it was funny.

(Not the slap in itself, but the irony that it was caused by Superman's unbelievableness, when all he wants to do in his life is to spread good.)

Now, it's not funny anymore.

Give me a breath. It was just a spanking.
