RE. Edits on the ITV4 repeats?

Me and my Dad watch these and my Dad seems to think they have been edited. Can anyone clarify this?

Just saw the Fatal Impression episode, did they show the shroud in the uncut version???

reply

Yes, they are edited, some language, nudity and fight scenes have been taken out, I'm also sure scenes are taken out for more advertising time. The only way to see Minder uncut is the Australian, Umbrella DVD releases.

reply

Um, well the early series were about Terry minding places such as strip clubs so in a couple of episodes there is nudity.

I've just watched Not A Bad Lad, Dad - a great episode - and noticed a strange edit.

When Beryl's husband finds her in London, she says "But how did you...?" and he replies "Because / stupid woman!"

Does anyone know what his original response was and why it was edited?

I think he says it was because she left letters to her friend. I watched some of that on ITV4 and compared to the DVDs the audio is in a different order and editied.

I watched one the other day and it must have been edited. i would be grateful if someone could tell me about the missing scenes etc. From 'The Beer Hunter' episode featuring Brian Glover as Arthur's old army friend Yorkie.

It just ended suddenly with Arthur and Yorkie singing along with Yorkie's wife in a pub.

reply

"The Beer Hunter" does end with Arthur and Yorkie singing in the pub. I don't think I have seen this episode on ITV4 so I don't know about any missing scenes.

Yes Karl they are - especially with the extended ad. breaks. Also there are some considered to be, race-related remarks, about the black boys in 'Gun fight at the OK Launderette'. Also another episode - can't remember which - where Arthur is sitting in his car waiting for Terry. On ITV 4 he's seen looking in the rear view mirror, asking Terry (All of a sudden) "Do I look old?".
In fact a cut was made there - this came from the fact that while Arthur was in the car, some kids kicked a football at it and Arthur told the boys off, and they called him an 'old B******'. To which he replied: "Not so much of the old!" THEN he asked Terry about looking old!

ITV 4 are tossers, cutting this..

In the episode 'Life in the Fast Food Lane' where Arthur is paid to scare off Terry's girlfriend, he tells her he's suffering from a mystery disease called Spotter Syndrome. This is dubbed over a long shot of them talking in a park. The original illness was the real Huntingdon's Chorea, which several viewers complained about so ITV dubbed it out for future broadcasts.

like with the proffesionals some racial lamguage is also edited

I've just started to watch my Minder box sets again.

I believe I bought them in 2001 and I can assure you the comments about the colour of the robbers in the first episode (with the laundrette) are still there.

Minder, Professionals, Sweeney, all currently being shown on ITV 4 , are all
edited in varying degrees for nudity, violence, language, and other things which
are deemed unsuitable for daytime viewing. Its a real shame because some
episodes are butchered quite badly, and some are never shown at all. Mind you,
its all still so much better than the tripe shown daytimes on the 'main' channels. Apart from, of course, the post Dennis Waterman Minder. Ray Daley
and those comedy minders were rubbish, many of those episodes just re-hashes
of the waterman ones, but without any entertainment merit.

I need to get some box sets.

reply

Im waiting for the box set prices to come down a bit on amazon.

reply

£35.20 at the moment, not bad.

I don't know what the edits are like on the latest British sets but I suspect there are still some minor edits.

The world is your lobster.

Bought the box set. Well under £40. Almost finished watching series 3 so far. Well worth it.
