New DVD box set, 29 August 2011

A new box set - Minder: The Dennis Waterman Years - is coming out. I'd imagine it contains series 1-7 and it's priced at 75 notes. Yep. Seventy-five smackaroons.

HOWEVER...

A series 1 - 10 set has been out for a while and is priced at 50 quid. Can anyone tell me why they've released a more expensive set with less stuff on it? I only want the Waterman eps anyway, so is it likely that the new set has improved picture quality / less edits, etc?

Any info would be appreciated.

I have bought the second set you mention three times now and each time I have received a faulty set. From Series 2 onwards it just does not play.

I have now given up and am trying to watch them all on ITV4.

Sure there's not something wrong with your DVD player?

Yes, very sure. I tried them on three players and they failed on every one.

Very odd. Maybe they were being sneaky and sent you back the same box set each time.

You could be right.

I may try a different outlet in the hope they have a different batch.

Minder is too good not to have in its entirety. :)

Very true, I've had it on DVD for a few years now and every episode has been watched countless times!

If you have no luck buying it again, you could hunt for used copies of older releases. I think there was another complete box set released a few years ago. I have the Australian releases myself, distributed by the company Umbrella, which were fully uncut and had the odd audio commentary, but these are extremely rare now I believe.

Thank you NothingButTheBest.

Good advice. I shall have one more go through Amazon this time (Play had the problematic sets for me) and hope for the best. If not I shall seek out the individual sets (I already have season 1 and it's fine)

One thing's for sure, I shall enjoy watching them all (to make sure they're all okay of course)

Watching them on ITV4 at the moment and I am struggling with impatience waiting for the next episode, so really need them on DVD.

Such a great show. :)

Maybe Arthur Daley himself is behind play.com these days?
