Katharina Thalbach is not in KATHARINA BLUM.
I suppose you mistake her for Angela Winkler.
She reminds me more of Brittany Murphy. I could just see the features on her face.

No, I haven't read or seen "The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum"...I'd be glad to check it out if it has subtitles :).
liz blizz, I'm not seeing a resemblance to Brittany Murphy.
EDIT: I just looked up "The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum", and the actress who plays in it is Angela Winkler (Oskar's mom), not Katharina Thalbach.
