"Today people want sensationalism. The more you rape (!) their senses, the happier they are".

Hi folks.

What do we all think of this quote said by one of the characters towards the end of this notorious and controversial film, and also, do you agree with it? (Sorry by the way for typing the dreaded four letter "r" word but that was what was said, and although the film DOES deal with THAT sensitive subject TOO, it has other disturbing material in it no doubt, but the use of it in an above quote means something other than "forced sexual intercourse" or "unwanted sex without the other person's consent", well you know, but rather, it deals with MEDIA SENSATIONALISM in GENERAL.)

Do you think the quote also applies to today's audiences, literally 40 years after the film was made, and the TV, media etc often exploits what it reports? And do people STILL want sensationalism and feel happy (or even satisfied) when their senses are violated by terrible news?
