Not perfect but still pretty good

I genuinely enjoyed this film. It was pretty much an Alien rip off although with a robot instead but I found it to be quite creepy.

The casting was probably the oddest thing about the film. I'd never have expected to see either Kirk Douglas or Farrah Fawcett in a sci-fi film much less be in one together. Regardless Douglass brought some weight to the acting and Farrah was just beautiful to look at. Harvey Keitel was also an odd choice but it worked despite his motivations being totally unclear.

The cast of just 4 people (one of whom gets offed within the first 2 minutes) is wonderfully claustrophobic and t you don't need tons of cannon fodder for a film to work this way.

My favourite part of the film is the set design. Bar a few colourful pipes here and there the hallways and corridors on the station look great with the black grating and blue edge lighting mixed in with the black rock. Some of it looked like leftovers from Silent Running in parts but all in all some really great design work there.

Hector the Robot is a strange mix of cheesy and terrifying. It's a guy in an out of proportioned suit so it's cheesy but the tiny head and clamping hands crossed with the crazy sentient intelligence makes him actually quite scary.

I know there are some who will just dismiss the film as complete trash but seriously, watch real crap like Starcrash, Space Raiders or Battle Beyond The Stars and you'll see that this is actually quite a decent entry to the genre.

So yeah, the film could have been tons better but as it is it's a pretty creepy ride and there are worse ways to spend a couple of hours.
