Why an organic brain....

Those robots flying the shuttles could talk and interact just fine towards the end of the movie when they come to check up on Saturn 3 so why would a robot need an organic brain?

I thought that was kind of silly. And did every robot like this have its own partner human to train it? Surely if they got chatty cool robots like the one sin the shuttle they would not need Hector type robots.

it wasn't robots flying that shuttle but people in space suits . hector was the first model of his kind and saturn 3 was his testing grounds . if hector was a success then he could be used to program others cyborgs like himself faster than humans could.

What we find difficult, computers find very easy; such as scanning and encyclopedia for strings, or matching genes from huge data pools, or solving complex mathematical systems. But, things we find second nature (language, speech, visual recognition, motor control, etc.), computers have thus far failed miserably in comparison.

and hector was to replace both adam and alex to produce better results. having robots with organic brains would make space exploration more possible and do dangerious work with out humans coming to harm .if you could merge humans and machines together they can work 24/7 and be more efficient.

No, Hector was to replace Adam: "One of you will be obsolete." [My emphasis]

Not necessarily. As long as there are organic components, the same hazards will apply.

Not really. Sure, cyborgs would be able to achieve great feats, but the same limitations humans have would still be imposed on cyborgs; sleep, nutrients, mental considerations, etc.

my mistake , i was under the impression hector was to replace adam first then mayby alex later.

true but as his brain case was incased inside the body i figured it would be protected better .for better or worst i based it from the novel that had hector walking on the surface of tethys unprotected.

again my mistake . his brain would still need downtime . as for nutrients his brain case looked completely sealed so would that mean his brain would last only as long as the saturation did ?

Keep in mind that the first time Adam had tackled Hector, he did quite a bit of damage to it. Granted, he didn't destroy Hector that time, but he did manage to mess it up. If a man could knock the robot over and cause some problems to it, any natural event could cause just as much (if not more) damage to Hector.
