Two observations
1) What was Hector's end game with Alex? He had no robo-wang...input device...whatever you want to call it.
2) Why not use the explosives in the first place? Also hard to believe that an outpost like that doesn't have at least one gun for defense that came as standard issue for a worst case scenario.
