Am I the only one....

...who didn't like the fact that John Milner was killed? I know movies can't always be sunshine and roses. I get that. But I just fell in love with who this character was deep inside, big tough macho man but really a marshmallow when it came to protecting his friends...I teared up a bit in both movies...it just seemed wrong to me...but other than that, I think they were great movies.

Yes. You're the first person to ever express that opinion.

I'm sure that Milner himself wasn't thrilled with it either.

It's ironic too, considering the dangerous life style he had, and yet he dies in a pointless way. http://image.aimoo.com/ForumImages/8b7f79e1-cff4-4fd8-a7e9-a1e39089d877/090729_100730_92977358.jpeg

$hit happens sometimes, you know!

It has been a long time since I saw this.

We knew from the original movie that he was doomed to die within a couple of years of the events in the first movie. That epilogue was a gut punch... jarring after watching this humourous movie.

That's the nature of nostalgia... it's bittersweet. We carry fond memories of the people in our past, even as we feel sadness that some of them are no longer with us.

IIRC, correctly, we don't see his actual death here... his car dips down into a shallow valley at the same time as the other vehicle approaching him. When neither car reappears, we know what's happened. I actually thought that was a brilliant way to show it.

"Nostalgia... it's delicate, but potent."
