Toad as a Warrant Officer

So, we see by his insignia that Toad is a warrant officer; except, throughout the film, he is treated like a PFC. Somehow, I get the feeling that nobody involved with this understood what a warrant officer is. They are technical experts who are put in a leadership position. It's a common rank in the helo world. I suspect that they essentially wrote him as a PFC and then a technical adviser said he would be a warrant, based on his job; but, no one took any further advice about his role within his unit. When he's chastised for being in officer's country; well, he is an officer! It's an officer rank and carries the authority of one. When he's chewed out by Delroy Lindo; he would be addressed as "sir." He wouldn't be on latrine duty. Well, the CO could order it; but, he'd lose the respect of everyone in the command, especially the senior sergeants. Granted, this guy was a poor leader; but even bad ones know where to draw the line.

Fortunately, Ah keep mah feathers numbered for just such an emergency!

Good call. That is but one of the numerous goofs that were left in, e.g. the sunset in Milner's rear window when it was supposed to be midnight, and others. I still like the flick for all its faults, but they should've paid more attention to details.
