Why Was Terry Reported MIA?

His commanding officer saw the letrine explosion and belived he had been killed, so why wasn't he reported dead?

reply

Probably because there were no remains of Terry Fields found.

The CO may also have reported Fields MIA to save emabarrasement for himself because of the circumstances of the exploding latrine, especially with the senator involved and them being all covered in waste.

reply

That could be a good reason, most of the generals in that war were actually like that.

reply

Never saw the movie, saw the original though, so he is definately dead though? Was his death supposed to be comedic (you mentioned a latrine).

reply

he's not definitely dead. The last we see of him he's walking through the jungle.

reply

He faked his death and went AWOL.

reply

I was wondering too

reply

Yeah, it didn't seem to make sense to me for sometime.

reply

In the military when there is no actual body of the deceased it is reported that they are MIA. Usually when this report goes out an officer, with some compassion, will write the soldiers family that he/she is dead but because of the abscence of a body they have to say MIA. Thats how it happened with my Uncle anyway.

reply

Because this movie totally sucks.

reply

Because the original movie said Toad was MIA.

reply

We should get this straight: Toad was, is and will be missing in action until he decides to come home. A lot of us are waiting for Toad to show up to Burger City one day with his Southeast Asian wife and their nine children and seventeen grandchildren. We have an agreement with the new manager, Mr. Erbler, to call us at home. We will come down and have a party.

Toad settled in Thailand, operated a go-go bar for several years, and now does freelance work for friendly governments. His life story became the basis for the "Rambo" series of movies.
