This movie would have been decent if Candy Clark's Scenes were cut

I've been watching this movie on HBO a lot lately, and I think the movie is an all around decent movie except for the Candy Clark hippie scenes. I am surprised they gave her character so much screen time when she was a supporting cast member in the original.

Milner's scenes were cool to watch him at the track racing and trying to pick up on the Swedish Girl.

Toad's scenes were pretty funny to watch, along with the little action that ensued.

Steve and Laurie's scenes were somewhat interesting to watch, especially with her brother at college and the protests.

They should have had more Falfa as a cop than having Debbie. Or even more of Mackenzie Phillip's character.

I agree that Candy Clark's character should have been reduced to a supporting role and not featured in one of the stories. Frankly I got a little tired of the Steve and Laurie story too because all they did was fight and it just got old. I think the problem was wanting to do four major stories and having nowhere to go once Richard Dreyfuss passed. There wasn't more of Ford because he did the cameo as a favor to Lucas while he was shooting "The Frisco Kid."

Yeah, I got a little tired of Steve And Laurie as well. Didn't care for Laurie's other brother in this one neither. You're right though, they sort of ran out of characters to focus on for 4 stories. They should have just split that guy from the Pharoahs and Terry up and used one of the other Pharoahs to serve with Terry in Vietnam.

The reason Candy Clark's role was expanded so much was due to complaints that the original film was too male-centric. Namely that the story was only concerned with the men and the women were only love interest.

There were actually complaints of the first film being too male-centric? Hmmm. After watching how bad this movie was, those complainers should really rethink things. The movie could have had a little more potential without Clark's scenes. She's not a horrible character, but she isn't deserving of her own story neither. I may have even been fine if they made that young girl that Milner drove around in the first film the main female story character instead of Candy Clark. It is what it is though. The film was tolerable at parts. It would have been cool to see Richard Dreyfus in the sequel.

agreed. First time watching this tonight and I had to fast forward through all Candy scenes. They were boring and emotionless.

Anonchronistic too: No WAY she would've known the name "Jimi Hendrix" on 12/31/66!
