John Milner and Drag Racing

I havent seen this movie yet but was wondering if there were any drag racing in this like the first...even though there was only on race in the first movie

reply

Yeah. In fact one whole part of the movie is dedicated to Milner at the drag strip with a fuel dragster.

How could Milner be in this movie? It takes place in the late sixties and at the end of American Graffiti it says he was killed by a drunk driver in 1964

ever listen to K-Billy's super sounds of the seventies? Its my personal favorite.

reply

This movie must be set in 1964 because we see John at the dragstrip and then he gets killed on his way home from the strip. It's too bad they killed him, he was one cool guy!

reply

He isn't dead, as a matter a fact he gets some of the longest lines for autographs at any car show he appears at. Hot August Nights is starting in Reno this weekend, there are usually a few cast members from the original who show up for that, its a big money maker for them.

If you love the first like I did you can appreciate this character follow up despite its flaws. I didnt rent it expecting an award winner, I rented it cuz i really dug the world George Lucas created in the first one.

Milner's one of the coolest charcters on film and Toad was a riot.

Already knowing how it was going to end it still blew my doors off :)

All the stories take place on New Years Day of a different year.

Milner's is in 1964
Terry's is in 1965
Debbie's is in 1966 (I think)
Steve's is in 1967

I met Paul Le Mat at a car show in Birmingham, England. I found him a cool guy, easy to talk to. The cars from American Graffiti were there too which was pretty cool, the show itself was based around the movie American Graffiti. I still haven't seen this follow up yet but I think I'll get around to ordering it now as I've just finished rewatching the oiginal movie.

I saw this film as a double feature with "Aloha Bobby and Rose" and together they're just heartbreaking!

I've always wanted to be a June Bride...

Good Point!! Being a fan of the original...the film was OK as a follow up...but there were a couple of mistakes with the script. What else could they do with the storyline? Get specific with the ending of the original film? Harrison Ford was not in it as well as Richard Dreyfuss.

reply

Ford's not in it? I know bob falfa is, when he pulls debbie over, and it sounded like ford. I actually thought it was him

Is there a chemical in X that makes you dance like a prick?

reply

Ford is in it, look closely at the motorcycle cop that pulls Debbie over.

Saucyjack,

Yes, he was killed by a drunk driver in 1964.
His segment takes place, December 31, 1964, the day he dies.
So, he can be in this movie.
