As illustrated by "Over the Edge," this "instructional film" shown to the students glamorized school violence (even though I'm sure it wasn't the filmmakers' intention) and only encouraged the youths to copy what was dramatized in it.

I remember "Over the Edge" was featured on PBS' "Sneak Previews" in late summer 1979 with a split verdict (Siskel thumbs up, Ebert thumbs down). Siskel said all the adults in the movie were "boobs." I wholeheartedly agree! They showed the scene when Carl got into an argument with his parents telling him he shouldn't see his friend Richie again with the father slapping Carl around when he tried to leave his parents' conversation.

Nice, I wondered if this was a real instructional film or was it created specifically for Over the Edge. I can see how teenagers would see such material as "lame" and "uncool".
