I just watched it on TCM - Turner Classic Movies too. I guess I haven't seen it in 34 years. I used to have the album soundtrack and got rid of it last year. Now I wish I hadn't. Michael Eric Kramer, Matt Dillon, Vincent Spano and Pamela Ludwig were all memorable for me in this film. Matt Dillon and Vincent Spano really caught the shining star and did so many more films in their life. Would have been nice to see the other kids have such a prosperous acting career too.
I also noticed Lane Smith, Ellen Geer and Andy Romano in this film.
As I was watching the film again and noticing how realistic it was in its portrayal of some teenagers, I also thought this film could be a remake of a Dead End Kids movie.
So glad TCM is showing this rare film.

I caught it too, was awake for some reason, saw Decline of Western Civ part 3 right before...OTE is still a powerful film, isn't It? So many great details, such a well made film, and, as stated before, looks great. This movie has been a part of my consciousness since its first was on cable tv, probably 1980, no later than '81, I can't think of another film I've loved for so long still having such a powerful impact all these years later.

P.s. James, maybe you sold ME your OTE soundtrack lol...I just bought it maybe a couple years ago, was on an OTE kick then and had never owned the amazing soundtrack. I'm just kidding of course. Go get yourself another copy !

Thanks for your reply, Charges_of_Buggery. The movie is available on DVD on Amazon.com and I see someone is selling their vinyl Over The Edge soundtrack on Amazon.com too.

GEG, sorry you missed it but now that it's on TCM you can be sure they will air it again eventually. Just keep on eye on their TV schedule at their website. Of course, you can get the DVD at many online stores pretty cheap too if you don't wanna wait.

It's on again right now on TCM, so glad I didn't have to wait very long to see this amazing movie. Looks very good in HD.

Been a very good month for late 70s/early 80s teen movies on TV as Foxes is being played all month on MGM HD channel. I'm still mad I missed Little Darlings on TCM a few months ago as that movie is too rare since it's not available on DVD currently.
