I finally found this movie since I remember watching it as a kid. For the longest time I thought that Matt Dillon was Jackie earle Haley. I think it was because of the hair lol

concern itself with the other groups, that's why they're not present, people say 'unrealistic'cuz every kid in the town is drunk ,drugged or trouble those other subcultures are there you just don't see them, but believe me the portrayal of this is EXTREMELY ACCURATE, I grew up in Southern California, moved to Phoenix Arizona at 15 and every single town east of LA to the Rocky Mountains was pretty much exactly like NEW GRaNADA Looking for some trouble to get into because it was the only fun thing to do Between going to the bowling alley in to the mall Witch we had but New Granada did not.....P.S. The other groups were: THE JOCKS- THE BRAINS or dweebs THIS *beep* KICKERS AND THE FROCKS( someone who would play in one sport, but was more comfortable hanging out with partyers getting high and drinking..
I grew up in New Jersey and was in Junior High at the exact time as the kids depicted in this movie, and, yeah, it was pretty spot on.
